Earlier this week, Amazon donated to Whittier over 300 backpacks filled with school supply kits. Staff & students helped unload the kits, including a few whose parents work at Amazon. They were thrilled to be part of the process! Thank you, Amazon! #SupportEachOther #WhittierWay

How cool is this?! Yesterday, students from Whittier Middle School got to visit with local artist Walter Portz as he works on a monumental mural in downtown Sioux Falls. They even got to help put paint on the wall! Now, whenever these students pass by this mural, they can take pride in knowing that they played a part in its completion, and they know the artist! Thanks Walter! Just one more reason to #supportSDpublicschools

Thanks to the Public School Proud Grant, Whittier teacher, Kaylee Jorde, has created global literacy kits that can be used by any classroom. Each kit contains various media from cultures across the world and, in Kaylee's words, "not only helps students who have never experienced them be able to broaden their perspectives, [but] it also helps students who connect with those traditions feel seen." Thank you, Kaylee, for making this available to our students!
